If I ever had a ladder to heaven
I would be there and ask everything
Knock on heaven's door and wonder,
To witness a concord of angels in praise.
If I ever had a ladder to heaven
I would be there each cool and clear night,
Eager to capture the moon and stars above
Standing in awe of these grand creations made.
If I ever had a ladder to heaven
I would look for the great and noble men,
Willing to learn from their endless wisdom
Follow well-trodden footsteps to be with them.
How I would these things will come
While I live, I know it couldn't be done
A ladder to heaven is just my sweet dream
Sweet dream coming true when life here is over.
